I like an excellent pho, and a medium #13 on the menu is just right. If I'm in the mood for a little more citrus flavor, I occasionally I ask for extra lemon. On the side, I make an equal mixture of the sweet hoisin sauce and spicy sriracha sauce...and I slightly dip each bite of meat into the sauce...and enjoy flavors.
~The soup is ALWAYS spot on with excellent flavor.~
I like my bean sprouts slightly cooked, so as soon as the soup comes out, I place the sprouts under the noodles/meat. Mmm... topping off with the basil makes for a DELICIOUS bowl o' pho. -

Just left this place. We waited for about 20 minutes and apparently mom did not know we seated ourselves. I say mom because I assume her young son was in charge of the "front" of the restaurant as I could hear them talking in the kitchen. The son was bringing out dishes one by one to another table across from us. I told my wife to give them 5 more minutes to take our order. We probably waited 10 and then walked. There was one other party in the restaurant and they were asking for their check. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say perhaps they lost a waiter tonite? Out.

So happy to find this place. If you have lived in the Santa Cruz County area very long and enjoy Vietnamese food you are well aware of the lack of Vietnamese restaurants. It was a rainy Saturday afternoon and I was craving veggie pho and found this little place on Yelp so decided to try it out despite the 3 star rating. I am really glad I did. When we arrived around 1:30pm the place was empty and seemed a bit understaffed, almost like they weren't even open. However they said they were and we sat down in a window booth so we'd have a nice view of the rain outside. The interior is inviting, nicely decorated and tables are not squished together. I ordered the veggie noodle soup (basically pho) which comes in 3 sizes (sm, med or lg). I would recommend getting at least the medium, the small bowl was pretty tight to fit all the noodles and veggies inside. The broth was delicious and the veggies (broccoli, cabbage, carrots) were cooked perfectly. They had thin slices of baked tofu on top which I liked better than cubed tofu which is what you generally get. Hubby had the vermicelli (bun) with grilled shrimp, pork and eggrolls which he really enjoyed. We also shared an order of the spring rolls which tasted very fresh and came with peanut sauce. We have been to many good Vietnamese restaurants in San Jose and the food here is comparable to some of my faves, at least what we have tried so far. The only thing that is different is this place does not have enough staff for more than a few tables at once so service takes a bit longer than most Vietnamese restaurants but if you adjust your expectations and are not in a hurry you will likely enjoy this place.

I've had their veggie pho once which was okay. However, their service is The Worst. I once ordered spring rolls to go, while my friend ordered pho. We came back 30 minutes later to pick up our order, and were yelled at by the manager for assuming our food would be ready when they told us it would be ready. It took another 20 minutes, and my lunch hour was already over. I didn't eat there for another 6 months. Today a friend wanted pho so I obliged. I ordered from Door Dash, was hoping to have a good experience (I love vietnamese food! I want to have this nearby!). Instead, I came in 7 minutes after my order was supposed to be ready. The cook came out only when I rang the bell. She told me she had not received a call from the manager about my order so it had not been made and furthermore, she would not start making it until after the manager called. I don't know if I can get my money back from door dash but I won't be going there again. If you have 3 hours for lunch, maybe it will be worth it for you though.

Service is standard and has no complaints from me.
The food is pretty bad by Vietnamese standard. They cook the noodles correctly and the broth does taste like its cooked from scratch. Both of which are pluses as a lot of pho restaurants outside of Asian metro areas use instant powder. That's about all I can say positive about it. The broth is pretty watered down and not that flavorful. It really tastes like they dumbed down the flavor for non-Asians. The broth had a tap water aftertaste to it. Either their filter is broken or they dont use a filter. The meat had a freezer burn aftertaste to it. I left disappointed.
2 stars for customer service and the food tasting authentic. I take 3 stars off for not being good.
